Bio je engleski glumac koji je uživao u dugoj karijeri u pozorištu, filmu i televiziji, rođen 29. oktobra 1925. godine u Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, Engleska, a umro 3. augusta 2017. godine u Londonu. Glumačku karijeru je počeo 1959. godine Sicinius nasuprot Laurence Olivier u Coriolanus u Stratford-upon-Avon, u režiji Peter Halla.

Privatni život
U braku je bio sa Elizabeth Fox sa kojom ima jednog sina, kasnije se ženi sa Sally Pearson sa kojom ima dvije kčerke.
